RALEIGH, N.C. - Florida A&M's Larry Jackson was named to the 2008 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference All-Rookie team, here Monday evening at the 2008 MEAC Basketball Tournament Kickoff Banquet, at the North Raleigh Hilton Hotel.
Jackson, a 6-6 freshman forward from Chattahoochee, Fla., is currently averaging 6.6 points and 3.9 rebounds per game. He scored a season high 21 points against the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (2-23-08).
He also led FAMU in scoring (14) and rebounding (5) against two-time defending national champion Florida in December, while pulling down a team-high seven (7) boards against Colorado in November.
The Rattlers finished the regular season with a 9-7 conference record and 14-16 overall, to garner a sixth-seed in the 2008 MEAC Tourney.
FAMU will open tournament play against eleventh-seeded UMES on Monday at 3 p.m., in the RBC Center.
